I just bought a new VX8300 yesterday and now every time someone calls me they tell me how cute my music is that plays instead of a ring tone. I've looked throughout the entire manual and couldn't find anything that says how to disable that music. Does anyone know what I am talking about? and know how to fix it?

edit: I'm new here. Hi everyone!

What you are hearing is the lovely default Verizon Ringtone. There isn't a lot of choices included with the phone because Verizon wants your money for additional ringtones. There are ways around having to pay, such as BitPim and a cable.

What I did was pick "Ringtone 5" for Caller ID and "Ringtone 2" for "Restricted Calls" and "No Caller ID" calls as I don't care about ringtones to the extent that I wasn't a roaming advertisement for Verizon every time someone called. :)

    Try this:
    1) Press OK.
    2) Press the right navigation button twice to get to "Settings & Tools".
    3) Press 321 on the keypad.
    4) Pick option to change that call setting.

That will place you where you can make changes to a specific call type. Note; do not pick option 4 unless you want to change option 1, 2 and 3 to the same sound.

Alternatively, you could just enable vibrate by pressing and holding the 9 key on the keypad or setting each Ringtone type to "No Ring". :)
  1.
The phone user manual will not say anything about "Ringback Tones"....The person that sold u the phone put Ringback tones on your phone, they charge u .99 a month to have the service and 1.99 for each RBT that u want to assign. it makes u renew the RBT every 12 mo. if u want to change the elevator music that is default u can log into "my account" at verizonwireless.com and customize what RBT's u want. u can download "VZtonesdeluxe" on your phone in "get it now" or u can call verizon and have them remove it alltogether.

My kid set up phone to say the caller's name when the phone rings.
It's a nice feature. But I don't need the thing saying "Restriced Number"
If It's Restricted or Unavaliable, Then just skip it.
Told him never mind... Just put it back. Ge dosen't know how he did it. Now it repeats the Caller's name over and over.
    Any Advice?

I actually like the feature, but perhaps your kid didn't mean to have it just repeat the name only? Try this:

    1) Press OK
    2) Press Right Navigate Twice
    3) Press 2,1
    4) Press Right Soft key
    5) Press 5

Once at the Call Alert screen you'll have three options:

    1) Ring Only
    2) Name+Ring (my personal favorite)
    3) Name Repeat

As I mentioned above, I use Call Alert option 2 (VX-8300 will voice announce the name once, then use the ringer for the remainder of the call). I find this feature very convenient especially when the phone rings from across the room. You'll have to experiment to find which option is best for you, but at least now you know where the options are located.
