I have a broken LCD. I see on EBay you can buy an "oridional LCD Screen". It comes with tools which consist of a small screw driver and an open tool which looks like a plastic tool to pry the phone open.
My question is. Does anyone know how hard this is to replace? Does anyone have or know where I can find directions to install it?

How much are they asking? The last time I broke my 8300, it cost $50 to replace it. That's with no insurance.

it would cost $29.99 plus $5.00 shipping. Where did you have your 8300 repaired? Verizon?

I took it to the Verizon store. I was told it was only $50 to replace because I turned in my old, broken phone (I had broken the outer display on the 8300).

I recommend calling first; this was about 1 year ago.

mine just got ran over by a car..... it fell out of my pocket onto the road, just as my friend was driving off. I got to see it about to happen and stare helplessly. ;)

Anyway the tire ran over the LCD screen and also bent the antenna - the phone fell and layed there open, so it only got the screen/ antenna. The phone still dials and receives calls, so that is good. The front small screen still works too. But there doesn't seem to be a way to have the front screen function as the inside one does. (someone else was asking this I think in the "externally view" question a month ago).

I'll look into the screen replacement. however since the antenna looks ifffy, perhaps i will just get another phone. I am glad i have backupassistant with Verizon........... didn't lose any phone numbers.
