The best way would be to take it completely apart and allow it to thoroughly dry (which I'm not recommending, but that would be up to you). Alternatively, I would allow it at least 48 hours before I would even consider putting the battery back in and testing it. The longer the better as all it would take is a small droplet shorting some critical part inside. It's also possible that some damage has already been done or will in time make itself apparent as the impurities crystallize. Sorry, the best I can say is give it a reasonably long time, in a warm location, to dry.

    Good luck.

Not sure if this will help at this point, but I dropped my phone in water some time ago and it works just fine now.

First, DON'T turn it back on. Just like you did, take it apart completely (battery, SD card).

Flush out impurities by immersing it in ethanol or isopropanol (you can get 70% rubbing alcohol from the hardware store or drug store). Let it air-dry overnight.

Still keeping the components separate, put them in a container of rice. Keep the clamshell open. Rice is a dessicant and will suck moisture away from the phone. Leave the parts in the rice for at least 24 hours; longer if you can (2 days should be fine).

If you don't see any moisture after this, you may be good to put it back together and turn it on. It should work fine with no glitches. The screen will tend to collect condensation on the inside surface for a few days; it doesn't affect functionality, but I kept the screen in front of my laptop fan while I was at work all day. The condensation would just return again, though. After a few days, moisture stopped collecting on the screen.

I know how completely traumatic it is to drop your phone in water, but it's more ridiculous when the phone company tells you they can't help you out, just because water "damage" is so common. Your phone is totally salvageable if you take the right steps. Good luck!
